A serendipitous meeting led us to Norbey Quimbayo while visiting his neighbour Luis Anibal in Huila, Colombia. Welcoming us to La Esperanza, his family’s small farm in Acevedo’s tropical valleys, Norbey shared his journey of inheriting the land and dedicating himself to producing exceptional coffee. With a deep respect for tradition and quality, he meticulously oversees every stage of cultivation and processing alongside his wife and three children.
This lot showcases the Castillo variety, grown in the rich, fertile soils of Huila and processed using the washed method to highlight its clarity and structure. The result is a beautifully layered cup, with the bright tartness of rhubarb, the juicy sweetness of plum, and the deep, syrupy richness of treacle. Each sip is a reflection of Norbey’s dedication and the distinct terroir of La Esperanza—a taste of Colombia’s vibrant coffee-growing heartland.
