Transparency

At Modus Coffee, we believe that exceptional coffee should not come at the expense of people or the planet. Our commitment to sustainability encompasses economic, environmental, and social dimensions—both at home in Perth (Boorloo) and at origin.

Economic Sustainability

The volatility of the global coffee market often leaves farmers vulnerable, with prices dipping below the cost of production. To counter this, we’ve established direct relationships with producers like Luis Aníbal Calderón in Colombia. By committing to purchasing consistent volumes of his coffee annually, we provide financial stability that empowers him to invest in quality improvements and innovative processing methods.

Environmental Responsibility

We’re actively reducing our environmental footprint by:

  • Minimising milk consumption in our cafés
  • Lowering gas usage in our roastery
  • Utilising compostable packaging materials

These initiatives reflect our dedication to preserving the ecosystems that make exceptional coffee possible.

Social Impact

Transparency fosters trust and accountability throughout the supply chain. By working closely with importers like Cofinet, we ensure that our sourcing practices support fair wages and community development. Our upcoming trip to Colombia aims to deepen these relationships and further our understanding of the challenges faced by coffee-growing communities.

Looking Ahead

We’re committed to partnering with like-minded producers and suppliers to build a more sustainable and equitable coffee industry. As we continue this journey, we invite you to join us in making coffee better for everyone.
