Coffee doesn’t grow everywhere; it needs the perfect balance of altitude, temperature, rainfall and sunshine.
And just like grapes for wine, coffee cherries ripen in different months depending on where in the world they’re grown. Knowing the harvest seasons helps us plan what’s roasting now, what’s on the water and what’s still ripening at origin, so you’re always drinking coffee at its best.
🇨🇴 Colombia – Huila, Nariño, Tolima, Quindío
Imported by Caravela & Cofinet
Colombia’s equatorial climate means two harvests:
-
Main harvest: Oct–Dec in Huila; Apr–Jul in other departments.
-
Mitaca harvest: a smaller mid-year crop when flowering lines up with shorter rains.
Two rainy seasons mean fresh Colombian coffees twice a year — rare in the coffee world. Main harvest lots usually land in Perth Jan–Feb, while mitaca lots arrive Jun–Jul.
Expect bright, balanced cups with everything from stone fruit to chocolate, depending on the region.

🇰🇪 Kenya – Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Embu
Imported by Sucafina
Kenya’s main harvest runs Oct–Dec, with a smaller “fly crop” in Jun–Jul. High altitudes and cool nights slow cherry ripening, concentrating sweetness and acidity — the reason for Kenya’s vibrant, complex profiles.
Coffees are usually auctioned early in the year, reaching Perth Mar–Apr. When in season, expect juicy, fruit-forward cups with sparkling citrus and berry notes.

🇪🇹 Ethiopia – Sidamo, Yirgacheffe, Guji
Imported by Cafe Imports
Harvest runs Nov–Jan, during the long dry season. This allows slow, even drying on raised beds — essential for Ethiopia’s floral, tea-like profiles.
Lots typically ship from March and arrive in Perth Feb–Apr. Expect delicate aromatics, layered citrus, and bergamot-like brightness.

🇳🇮 Nicaragua – Jinotega
Imported by Caravela
The highland harvest runs Nov–Feb, following a rainy season that stretches into October. Cool mountain climates slow cherry development, producing balanced, chocolatey profiles.
Coffees from Jinotega typically arrive in Perth Feb–Apr. Look for comforting notes of cocoa, caramel, and gentle fruit.

Why harvest and arrival dates matter
By sourcing in sync with each origin’s harvest, we make sure we’re roasting fresh crop, coffee at its peak. Arrival dates tell us when those green beans have landed in Perth and are ready for the roaster, linking the farm to your cup in just a few months.
Our importer partners, Caravela, Cofinet, Sucafina and Cafe Imports, help make that possible by managing quality at origin and coordinating shipments so every lot reaches us in top condition.
